Course info:
  1. Must attend all days of session you have registered for. A student CANNOT split the course over multiple sessions.
  2. Orientation is either the first or last day of lifeguard training course
  3. An Instructor can remove any student from any course if they feel that student is being disruptive, abusive (verbally or physically) towards instructor or other participants, not partaking in course as required, etc.  There will be NO REFUND if student is removed from course for any type of behavior that is deemed as inappropriate for the classroom. 

Payment info:

  1. Cost is listed as employee / non-employee. PAMC, LLC. employees receive the employee rate. Certifications are sent via email from the Red Cross. Please allow 10-15 business days for course records to be approved and entered. If a student pays the employee rate and elects to not work for PAMC, that student must pay the difference in class prices.
  2. ONLINE Payment is due AT LEAST 1 BUSINESS DAY PRIOR TO START OF COURSE.  We do not accept cash, check or credit card at the office.
  3. Refunds, cancellations, or changing courses. Once registered, to cancel your registration we must receive notice at least 1 business day prior to the start of class to receive a refund minus a 25% administration fee. Any cancellations after the class has begun will not be refunded. If you need to reschedule to a different class, we must receive notice at least 1 business day prior and you must pay the difference in the cost of the class. If PAMC cancels a class you are registered for, you may transfer classes with no additional charge, or receive a full refund.

 

This schedule is subject to change. Please contact office prior to date of courses to ensure that the scheduled times have not changed. Minimum of 10 participants required for class to occur.

FAQS:

To enroll in the Lifeguarding course, you must be at least 15 years old before the last scheduled class session. To participate in the course, you must be able to pass prerequisites that include the following:



1. Swim 300 yards continuously, using front crawl, breast stroke or a combination of both.


2. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. (You cannot use your arms or hands)


3. Complete a "rubber brick removal" event within 1 minute, 40 seconds. Goggles are not allowed.

  • Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Your face may be in or out of the water. 
  • Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound rubber brick.
  • Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on your back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object while keeping your face at or near the surface so you are able to get a breath. You cannot swim the distance under water. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.


The prerequisites will occur on the first day of the course. To successfully complete the course, you must attend the entire course, participate in all skill sessions/drills, activities and scenarios, demonstrate competency in all required skills and scenarios, and pass the final written exams. 

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for 2 years.
